And sometimes I combed Lili's hairbraids mostly but sometimes a ponytail.
Lili would cry sometimes
the kind of crying where no tears came out.
Big faker.
I wouldn't hurt her head for a million dollars.
Some days
like today and yesterday and probably tomorrow
that's all that's on my mind

This was a phenomenal book. Loved it. Thanks for sharing this poem and making me remember Lonnie.
I love that book and all of Woodson. The end of that poem is so vibrant - it's puts me right in the room with them.
I so love Jacqueline Woodson. She always pleases me, always impresses me, always amazes me.
