Women Unbound: My Shortlist

Below is my tentative reading list. When I'm not reading YA with strong female leads, I'm reading women's lit with the same. This challenge came right on time. I'm participating at the highest number of books level, suffragette. This means committing to read at least eight books, including at least three nonfiction ones. To learn more about the challenge, visit the Women Unbound.

Great list! I'm not familiar with any of them although the Paula Marshall book has been on my radar recently. Looking forward to reading about these!

Great list - I love Audre Lorde; so thought-provoking. And nice array of different interests!

Awesome list! I've read Sister Outsider, The Untelling, and Corregidora. I have Brown Girl, Brownstones on my list too! and I have Children of the Waters, but didn't think to add it to my list. I think we'll have some interesting convos lady.

It is a great list. I think all the authors for this one are going to be great.

Nice mix. The Graffiti Women sounds interesting. You don't hear too much about them.

Strong list! Good luck moving through it. You've reminded me of some of the books I need to put back on my own list. Zetta reminded me the other day that I need to get over myself and read Kindred, so that one will be first, but then on to re-reading Brown Girl, Brown Stones ...

Hey G,
When you read Kindred, you'll be po'd that you waited so long. That's how I felt. I brought home Graffiti Girl and Paule Marshall's book.

I've read two other titles that fit the challenge that I need to write up soon.

Saw the movie "Precious" with my daughter. I wasn't interested in seeing it having read the book, but I was interested in mother/daughter time and she really wanted to see it so we did. Better than I thought but like one critic said, I'm ambivalent about what the movie accomplishes.
