harlequin: sista style

babe nothing quite as satisfying
as my head buried in your armpit
my shoulder falling asleep
inhaling our funk

stepping over strewn jeans
and empty video cases
eating cookies
made just because

swishing dish water
captured on film
so later you can watch
your honey doing
household chores
in your denim shirt

serving lunch by candlelight
toasted baguettes with
hummus and cherry tomatoes
nothing quite like
love

I love this! It works so well for the prompt. I liked the funk part too. You've created a sweet, cozy moment.

"Funk" is such a good word there... it brings up a host of associates like bunk, like f*ck, like musk. Drunk, too.

And then there's the atmosphere of the whole poem. Well done...

Noah, I'm glad you like it, but are you old enough to remember the good ole days? lol

I love the intimacy in this, the way you started with Babe, so it seems like I'm eavesdropping.

Hi Linda,
This appears to be one of my most popular pieces today. I'm pleased that it appeals to so many. Thanks for coming by.

Love the voice of this poem and the vision of love. Chores and sharing snacks and "funk". Love it!
