Ashley of Books Make Great Lovers is only 15, yet she is so well aware of the issues the world faces. I think she deserves much respect for the work she has done on her blog for the last two months, spotlighting Child Abuse Month and Teen Sex Awareness. In addition to this, she produces her own YA newsletter.
She is a great young lady, whose hard work sometimes goes unnoticed in this huge sea of bloggers, but she truly is a gem!

I really enjoyed Kim's review of The Spirit Catches you and You Fall Down, at Sophisticated Dorkiness. This nonfiction book is a remarkable look at the Hmong culture and the Western medical community in California, and has stuck with me ever since I read it years ago. Kim gave it her very first A+ Perfect Score!

I do go around blogs regularly and comment, but only to posts that I can relate to, so I can make personal comments. I'm reluctant to leave generic comments, because I'm not sure if they do much. The gardening article by Jeanette Winterson is just beautiful! I'm trying my hand at gardening for the first time this year and it has given me a much needed boost of encouragement. (I didn't see a place to leave comments, so I'm sharing my thoughts here...)
I, too, liked Winterson's post and how she developed the idea of gardening and writing as metaphors for relationships. Brilliant!
