3WW & TOP

Rite of Passage

When she sucks her teeth and rolls her eyes,
I weigh my options: give in to that ubiquitious
urge and snatch her up by her whirling dervish neck
or bear down, refocus and restrain that natural
desire to curse her and the universe for the burden
of having given birth.

Submitting this for both 3WW and TOP.

Nicely done, and so short! I'm envious, since I have to always fight the desire to ramble.

Yes, Cameron is my 15 year old. She lives in New York City with her father.

Really enjoyed reading this - as a lover of poetry AND as a mom. I think I'm going to start participating in the TOP. It is so creative and looks like a lot of fun.

Glad you all laughed with me. Just spent the afternoon with my youngest. Today was a good day. Today she cracked me up.

With feeling! I like the sound and movement in the first line. And the "re" words which emphasise it is not for the first time.

Hi Gordon, thanks for weighing in. I need to get by your place and comment. Looking forward to reading what you're up to.
