This week I really enjoyed Seeing the Light: Some God Talk to Begin Holy Week at Diary of an Anxious Black Woman.
While my own religious beliefs may differ, I found her discussion of the way poetry and science/speculative fiction are just as engaged in the quest for spiritual identity as traditional religions to be quite compelling. She writes, Whether the point of any of these films is the exploration of alien intelligent life or the triumph (and failures) of science and technology, the goal is always - God, I'm looking for you! Can you give me some kind of proof of your existence? Interesting stuff.
I'm also a fan of the Anxious Black Woman--you've GOT to see this post with its link to Ciara's newest video...thank GOD I don't have BET! Ciara looks a LOT like my little sister, who also dances/models, and I'm discussing these issues in my class, so this post was rather timely.
