Hi Susan, I am wondering about these poor little birds. Were they in an oil spill? I hope they aren't being boiled alive. Or is it a bird fight, or a baby crying while his moma is being eaten. ..
Nature's fury can change our lives,or those around us in an instant. The reading of this today is very timely considering Gustav's behavior over the holiday weekend.

Thank you all. For me, the poem is a metaphor.
The powerful pull of this small poem is amazing. Great work!
Very tragic. Or dear.. someone else used that word. Still, it is what I thought. Powerful images that can mean so much more.
ouch!
your description tho. is heavenly.
hmmm... a metaphor, for your life
now? someone stripping you
naked, or exposing you?
So nice to read you again. So *good* to read you again.
Vibrant. Loved the missed spelling.

Small, but certainly mighty.

Great work. Love the last line especially.
A brilliant ku, but so damn painful to think about.
"yanked from sun to hail..." Such an intriguing piece; so much mystery behind it!
What a spectacle! Good work! I recently saw a hummingbird without tail feathers.
You sure pack a lot into the moment. The images create a big impact, so much wildness in the span of three lines.
I feel for the poor bird, which is made a spectacle of.
Exquisite....Exquisite.
I have a friend that went to Greece on an archeology scholarship. She told me about the pomegranate.
it is hard to imagine a more painful image... so beautifully portrayed...
I enjoyed that. A very clever metaphor.
Thatword "yanked" is an eye-opening beginning! Powerful poem!
Oh, that would be a spectacle! but a sad one for sure.
